Greenspace

During the 2000 legislative session, the Georgia General Assembly created the Georgia Greenspace Program (SB 399). Eligible counties submit community greenspace programs to the Department of Natural Resources for approval. If approved, the county is eligible to receive funding from the Greenspace Trust Fund.

"Greenspace" is defined as permanently protected land and water, including agricultural and forestry land, that is in its undeveloped, natural state or that has been developed only to the extent consistent with, or is restored to be consistent with, one or more listed goals for natural resource protection or informal recreation.

For more information on the Georgia Greenspace Program, go to http://www.gadnr.org/greenspace/.

For copies of Greenspace plans submitted in the RDC region, go to Plans and Publications.
