Overview

The Northeast Georgia Regional Development Center is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for the 12-county area including Barrow, Athens-Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton counties as well as the 54 cities therein. The agency was created in 1963 as a focal point for regional issues concerning local government and as a resource for those governments in a variety of specialized areas.

The Planning Division offers a variety of services to its local governments including land use planning and zoning, assistance with the development of land management ordinances, mapping, Geographic Information Services (GIS), GIS data maintenance, codification of ordinances, historic preservation, transportation planning, and grant writing and administration.
