Overview
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contracts with Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC) annually to provide transportation planning support for our twelve counties. Typically, we provide local government assistance with scenic byway programs, pedestrian/bikeway planning, rural public transportation planning, safe route to school programs, transportation enhancement programs, environmental resources information and reviews, public involvement with the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, and any type of data collection and analysis needs as request by GDOT or local government. The NEGRC staff also serves on the Madison Athens-Clarke-Oconee Regional Transportation Study (MACORTS) committee.
